Re: 5ghz Randomly Disappears

I have the very same issue.  5Ghz goes away until reboot.  Most I have made it without reboot is 15 days. When it is up, the range and speed is good.  I had the RAX 200 with EX8000 extender.  I have around 25 devices usually connected.  11 of those are 2.4.

Small house - 1350 square feet.   Like I said, signal is great when it is there.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

How many devices are connected to the router?

Brand and model#s of devices you have connected?

Is Smart Connect enabled or disabled?

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, Protection Engine, Traffic Meter.

    Hi NERaptorRunner,

Can you try the 5GHz set to channel 40 and mode "Up to 2.9 Gbps" to see if the connection becomes stable?

    Thanks.

  • After over 8 months of open case and two firmware,  Still issue.   The specific problem is when 5GHz mode is set to 5.8GBPS  and set to channel above 144,  none of my devices see the 5GHz. I am not getting good throughput if left in lower channels at that mode.  I tried the DFS channels, but sometimes get bumped out to uppers and everything drops. It is stable at 2.9.  Support staff was great,  but not delivering fix. 2 and 6 GHz are fine.  RS700 now unplugged.  I went with ORBI 970 with one satellite. I am thrilled with performance, range and stability after one week. Apple TV is hardwired to satellite and I get 940 up and down. I get 930 down 640 up on IPhone 15 pro max.  Only settings I did was WiFi name and disabled otp net.   Just works.

Could you check which 5GHz channel the Orbi 970 operates on? and could you try to set Orbi 970 5GHz to a channel abouve 144 to see if your devices can see it?

The information could help us root cause the issue with RS700. Thank you.

In our tests using several WiFi client devices that don't support 5GHz UNII-4 channles, those devices were still able to connect to the RS700 operating in the "Up to 5.8Gbps" mode on a 5GHz channel above 144, though the speeds were lower (i.e. not in the bandwidth 160MHz mode).

  • The router is on 40(p).The Satellite is on 157(p).  Devices are connecting to Satellite without issue.

IF the RBR is on 40, then the RBS should also be on channel 40 for 5Ghz.

Channel 157 should be for wireless backhaul.

Can you post a screen capture of the RBS web page UI?
