RS200 randomly disconnecting

Hello,

My RS200 is currently experiencing random disconnects. It's intermittent and last maybe 30seconds - 1m.

ISP: Sonic Fiber w/ their modem
RS200 router since Feb 2025 w/ firmware V1.0.5.12

When it disconnects,

the router leds are still active, no red leds or anything that shows loss of connection

all devices (wifi and lan) disconnect

I have a ping 8.8.8.8 -t running so it fails during the disconnects

I have a ping 192.168.1.1 -t running also, but it continues to ping successfully

Troubleshooting performed:

called Sonic Fiber and they said no loss of connectivity from their side during the times of disconnects

change DNS servers on router side (used google and cloudflare)

latest firmware and multiple reboots of the router

Router logs, not sure how to read, am i getting attacked?

  • just had to 2 random disconnects today with the following settings:

    Armor (expired)
Smart Parental Controls or Circle / don't have this feature
    IPv6 (Advanced > Advanced Setup > IPv6) / disabled
Protection Engine (Advanced > Security > Protection Engine) / disabled
Traffic Meter (Advanced > Advanced Setup > Traffic Meter) / disabled

I did get a new 10Gbps Snagless Shielded Cat 6A cable and will try that next.

What brand and model# are these computers?

What brand and model# ethernet adapters are installed in these computers?

Make sure ethernet adapter drivers are up to date from the Mfr.

  • During my weekend tests of Firmware 1.2.1, I observed that the problem stemmed from the WLAN channel. Speeds were unstable on channels 52-64. Channels 36-48 showed no problems. Until now, I'd been using channels 52-64 because they weren't used in my area. Unfortunately, since I couldn't revert to the old firmware, I started using channels 36-48.

was it causing all devices to lose connection (LAN and Wifi)? I only have 2 computers connected the LAN while all other devices are connected to wifi.

  • so far, this is what's I've done. will give it a few days.

    Armor (expired)
Smart Parental Controls or Circle / don't have this feature
    IPv6 (Advanced > Advanced Setup > IPv6) / disabled
Protection Engine (Advanced > Security > Protection Engine) / disabled
Traffic Meter (Advanced > Advanced Setup > Traffic Meter) / disabled

going to amazon to buy CAT6A STP.

Factory reset will be last resort.

  • Channels are Auto for both 2.4 and 5.0

I'll start with this list of things to disable first. thanks!

      Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

  • Hello FURRYe38,

Factory reset has not been performed.

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

I don't remember what type of LAN cable i'm using now, but it's the same LAN cable as it was before when I had Xfinity (150mbps down). Now with Sonic Fiber (1Gbps down).

Do a whois lookup on those WAN side IP addresses to see where they are coming from.
