RS600 new firmware issues 1.0.5.22

Downloaded and installed latest FW release 1.0.5.22, and now experiencing issues with internet dropping out for about 30 seconds every 10-15 minutes. This was most prevalent on the ethernet side, but noticed it happens as well on the wireless side simultaneously. Anyone experiencing this?  Had to revert back to previous firmware in order to correct the problem. Nothing else was changed.

Does the Internet LED on the front turn AMBER or RED when this happens?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Using ISP detected DNS or custome DNS?

Is IPv6 and Protection Engine enabled on the router?

Yes it intermittently switches to red. I know it os a router issue as I replaced with my old router and not any problems.

I does also show in router logs of disconnect. Happens as much as 2-10 times per hour for just a short time of about 20-30 seconds then reconnects.

Means the router has lost connection with the modem

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? We need this info please.

Factory reset the router and setup from scratch.

Trying using Cloudfare or Quad 9 IPv4 DNS addresses.

        Leave Protection engine disabled.

I've had my RS600 online for days with out seeing this on this version of FW.

  • I also tried protection engine on and off. Same

result. This didnt start happening until latest firmware update OCT 15 2025

  • Reverted back to previous firmware, still having issues. I removed the router all together and replaced with my previous RAXE500, which was working fine. Everything working well, so I have to assume the problem is the router and the updated firmware must have corrupted the router. Will try a factory reset and reload my Lan IP tables and try again. Otherwise I am going to assume this update killed it. Was working fine for months, before updating.

Could you please capture the debug logs from the routers IP address/debug.htm. Please check WAN/LAN packet capture as well. Let it run for 5 minutes then select the save logs button.

Put up on a cloud storage site like dropbox or onedrive and PM me the share link.

      Will get this to NG.

  • Finally solved this issue.  Let me take a step back at the cause first.  This all started after uploading the latest firmware 1.0.5.22.  This was done via direct cable from a laptop.  After that internet was fully dropping out to all devices about ever 3-15 minutes with a duration of about 10 seconds.  The internet light would turn red and flash during this period.  My first step was to revert back to the previous firmware, but still now had same problem.  I did a reset on the old firmware and reset up from scratch, and still same problem.  I then installed the new firmware again and did same thing setting up from scratch after a full reset.  Noticed all along in the logs a message internet connected and the exact time it would fail.  So my next plan I did a 30/30/30 reset several times concurrently.  After that I re-installed the 1.0.5.22 firmware again, and did a 30/30/30 reset again.  Reloaded all my settings again, and it works perfectly now.  I think the thing that fixed it was doing the 30/30/30 reset.  Using the reset button procedure was unable to correct this.  All is well now, thanks for all the help.

Frontier XGS-PON-ONT.  Model #FRX523.  I used this ONT successfully with Rax200, and Raxe500, never a single bit of problem.
