How to link a local account to a My NetGear account for ReadyCloud?
So WAY back when, I had created a ReadyCloud account. It would not let me create a cloud user with the same email as my local account. So my local userid/email are different than the readycloud userid/email.
Then recently, the 6.5.0 upgrade and the merge happened. I was able to merge my readycloud account with my My NetGear account.
2 issues:
1) I can only login with my My NetGear account instead of being able to login with my local user account (I don't see a way to link them?)
2) If I use the WEB app for ReadyCloud, and login with my My NetGear account, I can see all my shares (including my local userid home account). But if I use the iOS smartphone app, I only see my My NetGear home directory which is empty.
I'm guessing #2 is caused by #1, but it's odd that the regular web interface somehow recognizes that my My NetGear account is an "admin" type account and can get to everything, but the Smartphone app can't handle that?
I'm on Ready OS 6.5.1 now.
Oh, if it matters, the My NetGear account for ReadyCloud is the same account that's logged in as the ReadyCloud user. Meaning you go into the Admin interface, Cloud -> ReadyCloud and it says: Logged in as "userid@blahblah" which is the same as my My NetGear account.

Hello khurni,
You cannot use the same email address for local user of ReadyNAS and MyNetgear. ReadyNAS automatically creates home folder for each user, wether it is a ReadyCloud user or a local user. This home folder will be named after the user account name. Please remove the email address from the local user account in the page of the NAS as it does not also matter if it has an email address or not. Use the email address either in local user account or ReadyCloud (MyNetgear) account only.
MyNetgear account is the upgraded ReadyCloud account, by the way. So, what you have under admin page > Cloud > ReadyCloud is normal.

Thanks Jenn.
So basically if you have a local user account (or many of them) like:
jsmith
awallace
sjohnson
None of those users can get their home directories via ReadyCloud because MyNetGear requires your userid to be an email address, and according to your information, that means their home directory via ReadyCloud would be:
jsmith@something.abc
That seems like a horrible design, IMO.
Not to mention makes ReadyCloud pretty useless.

Hello khurni,
ReadyCloud users and local users are in one directory so ReadyCloud user account details should not be the same as local user. What you can do is on a remote computer that has ReadyCloud client, use Backup PC folder feature to sync the contents of a specific folder from that computer, this will create a share that will show up in the admin page > Shares. Then in the admin page, add your local user as a read/write permitted user to that new share's permission settings so that the local user will be able to access that share and see all the contents added by the remote computer that has the ReadyCloud desktop client as well as add files.
