Solved

ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Worked with 6.7.0 and v 2.0.6 but not with 6.8.0 and after upgrading to Photos II v 2.0.7.

When accessing locally, going through the Wizard after initial install this is what I get when trying to create the initial (admin) account.

Well, I took some time to dig into this tonight... and was able to fix it.

    Here's what the logs said:

    Aug 23 22:32:49 ReadyNAS1 apache2[27516]: [error] [client 192.168.1.176] client denied by server configuration: /apps/photos2/favicon.ico, referer: http://192.168.1.100:8086/photos2/login.html

    Aug 23 22:32:56 ReadyNAS1 apache2[24751]: [error] [client 192.168.1.176] cannot open(/etc/frontview/apache/apache2.pem), referer: http://192.168.1.100:8086/photos2/login.html

    So I started investigating here:

    root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# ls -lart

    total 68

    drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  624 Aug 19 16:37 ..

    I then ran:

    root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# chown admin:admin *

    Then verified the change:

    root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# ls -lart

    total 68

    drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  446 Aug 19 16:37 .

    drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  624 Aug 19 16:37 ..

Ownership is successfully changed to admin.

I then shut down Photos II, removed it...  then reinstalled Photos II v2.0.7 from the "Available Apps" section.  Completed the install... and went through the wizard again, AND... creating the Admin user was finally successful!!

Seems like this may be firmware related or something?  I'm not sure what set these to root to begin with but it definitely fixed my issue that I was seeing in the screenshots above while trying to create admin user in the Wizard.

Now I will mark this as "Accept as Solution" - thanks for nothing and for not getting back to me Marty.

    Hello givememynamebak,

I have tried and I was able to create an admin account. Please try to remove and add back the photos app. You may also try to use a different browser and computer in creating the admin account.

I don't mean to be harsh but, you don't think I tried that already?  I have tried that 4 or 5 times before posting my post and that is the result.  I did have it installed prior with 6.8.0 - RC 1 before the release.  Then upgraded to the latest version with the Update button after the 6.8.0-Release  not sure if that makes a difference.

        Hello givememynamebak,

Please try to turn off all apps running on the NAS then try to install the photos app check if it will push through. If the installation fails please download the logs right away please then provide us a copy using file sharing website like wikisend and then PM me the download link.
