APC UPS + Readynas Ultra + Synology?

Most APC UPS units that have a USB port (it has to be a USB port, a serial-to-usb cable won't work) will work.
What UPS you get will depend a bit on what load you intend to put on it. You don't want to put more than about 80% of what the UPS can handle or the battery in the UPS will drain too quickly on power failure shortening the battery's life. I believe APC has a runtime calculator that you can use to estimate what load you're putting on the UPS and what runtime you'll get.
Also different UPS's have different features. If you have flakey power then a Smart-UPS is best. If power is very reliable generally then a BackUPS may well be fine. Different models have different features designed for different uses.
