Can't install add-ons after upgrade.

Hello Supporters!

I am the proud owner of a Readynas Ultra 2. I ran out of space, and changed the Raid to expand instead of redundant.

Before i made the changes, i took a config backup, of the Ultra. When my nas had finished installing the new raid. i restored the backup configuration.

My problem is now, that i can't install any add-on that was installed before. when im trying to install an error occours, and says "An add-on with the same name is already installed" something like that.

Hope someone can help me, else i think i will need to start from scratch.

Thanks

Sonne

  • I am running the latest version RAIDiator 4.2.19

The backup was made on the RAIDiator 4.2.19

No, i haven't tried the OS reinstall. What will happen with my HDD's? Do i need to take a backup before reinstalling?

Isnt there a way, to go in and delete all the old add-ons through SSH?

I changed the raid from X-Raid to Raid-0.

    Thanks

    OS Re-install leaves data intact.

Remove the entries for the add-ons if found in /etc/default/services and in /etc/frontview/addons/addons.conf

You can use "vi" (see MAN page) to do this.

When changing RAID modes it's best not to restore a config backup and reconfigure manually.
  • I will try and see if i can delete the addons.conf, if not i will need to re-install OS!

What is the problem about changing Raid mode? what else should i use the backup for?! if i can't use it after changing the raid?

Thank you, for a fast answer :)

I wouldn't delete addons.conf but rather delete the contents of it.

Some parts of the config backup (if backing up everything) may include stuff specific to your RAID mode. However, I think this is more likely to be an issue going Flex-RAID to X-RAID2 (if using multiple volumes on Flex-RAID) not the other way around.

Config backup is useful for restoring to another ReadyNAS (if want same config), restoring part/all of config backup is configuration has been messed up, and restoring config backup after factory default keeping same RAID mode.

When I said to delete the contents of it, I should have said delete the lines for the add-ons that are not installed. Don't delete the line for add-ons that are installed e.g. DAAPD (also known as Firefly also known as iTunes Streaming Server).
  • Yes, i know what you meant :) I will see if it will work, with deleting the content. must be the easiest way, if it works.? else i'll reinstall.
