Dead ReadyNas 1100?
Found my 1100 power off, and I don't get anything by physically turning it the On/Off switch. No lights. No Fan. Unit was attached to an UPS and was actively used the day prior. I guessing it's the power supply? Anyway to tell? I'd hate to just start buying parts for the old system.
I do need to recover my data. I do still have my old 1000S, although it has been turned on in 2+ years as a possible option.
I appreciate the groups assistance.

Could you disconnect the power cable from the unit, wait 5-10 minutes then reconnect the power cable and see if that makes a difference? Also could you try connecting it directly to a power outlet rather than via the UPS (try to rule out a problem with the UPS)?
When did you purchase this 1100? Was it purchased on/after August 21, 2007?Bowlinra wrote:

Power on your 1000S and update it to the latest firmware.
If it doesn't have any disks in it currently, find a spare disk and put that in, do a factory default (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) and update it to the latest firmware.
Provided the disks are fine you can migrate them across from the 1000S to the 1100: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another - BowlinraAspirantI move the unit and got the same results. I called Netgear Tech support and was HAPPY to find out the unit is still covered under warranty!
On to Step 2: Pray my data is recoverable! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredProvided your disks are fine your data should be recoverable.
Here is what I suggest:
1. When you get the replacement unit, put a spare disk (must not be from your array) in it (doing a factory default if necessary) and ensure it's running the latest firmware. If not running the latest firmware, update to that firmware, rebooting when prompted. Be sure to verify the update was successful.
2. Then power down, remove the spare disk and follow the migration procedure I linked to above.
Now when you attempt to boot the replacement 1100, monitor the NAS in RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads). If when you click setup you are prompted with a dialog window to choose RAID modes rather taken to Frontview power down immediately however you can. - BowlinraAspirantOk. I've put a spare disk in my 1000S and upgrade to 4.1.8. I then did a reset to factory default and now I'm stuck where it just sits there is disk 1 and 3 lights on and the activity led flashing blue. I see other having this problem but haven't found a resolutions.
Any ideas? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWas no need to do factory default with spare disk in place unless you couldn't update to 4.1.8.
If migration doesn't work then take a look at http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/hardware/what_does_this_light_pattern_mean - BowlinraAspirantTo complete the thread. I was able to rescue the my 1100 data via a NV+. Had no problem with the data resync. Sadly my 1000S got bricked (I think) during this mess, I'll have to start another thread on it. Thanks for the assistance!
