Difference between RND2000 & RNDU4000100NAS
Good Day all,
So, I am a real new person to this who NAS concept. My wife has been asking for an online storage system in our home for storing movies, pictures, music, etc.
I have been looking at going with a Netgear RND2000 ReadyNAS Duo Network Attached Storage (Diskless) and putting in a couple of Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB Serial ATA Hard Drive - 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA 6Gb/s.
The Netgear has been out of stock for a while from the vendor I was going with and someone mentioned a NetGear RNDU4000100NAS ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Network Attached Storage - Diskless, 4x Bays, 2x Gigabit Ethernet Ports, 3x USB Ports
Now, I am trying to understand, would stepping up to the RNDU40001-100NAS be a smart step? Its on sale at a local retailer for only $50 more then the RND2000..
Whats the real differences?
Our main goal, a place for my wife and I to store photos that we take (I shoot on average around 15,000 pictures a month doing sports shooting), storing movies (videos of sports, digital copies of movies purchased online), music, etc. We want to stream it through out PS3 and if possible our XBOX 360 (just got it, have NO IDEA what it can do yet).
Your help would be GREATLY appreciated!

The main question I have is how much storage space do you want?
A Duo with 2x 2 Tera disks, on X-RAID, ie disks mirrored, has a Net storage
of 1.83T allowing for overhead.
With a 4 disk NAS, Net storage is (4-1)x 2Tera- overhead= 5.5 T.
Regards, Marto
