Drive Migration
I have a Readynas ultra 4 that the ethernet failed. I am looking for what units can i move the drives to to retain the data. I have half tempted to try the vmwware image that is floating around to recover the data. Or any other suggestion or recommendation. TIA. Stephen
FYI, even in tech support mode it does not obtain an IP nor is it visible for raidar
On a sidenote, does this work for the x86 ultra? http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306

When did you purchase the Ultra 4? If you purchased it brand new note that it has a 3 year warranty.
You can move the disks to an Ultra, Ultra Plus or Pro with 4 or more drive bays.
See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another
If you have a spare disk put that in the NAS before doing the migration. - stephenc01Aspirantthank you for the warranty info, i assumed it was only 1 year. I will contact support since it was bought in 2011.
