Duo fan running full speed after upgrade

Hi,
I’ve recently upgraded the hard disks in my ReadyNAS duo v1 to 2 x 2GB Seagate ST2000DM001. Since the upgrade, the green fan LED/button has disappeared from RAIDar. When the drives were syncing, it generated a load of fan failure alerts (which I have stupidly cleared) and now the fan runs at full speed all the time. When you first boot the unit, the fan ramps up to full speed and then ramps down to low speed but then goes back to running at full all the time once the unit is running. Both drives show temperatures of around 30 degrees. Does anyone know if this is a compatibility problem or if my Duo is broken? Thanks.

  • Have you tried using the Fan Calibration option on the Status>Health page?
  • Thanks for the reply. The calibrate fan option isn't there. There's not even a fan tab in the health section now.
  • Problem fixed.
Replaced fan – I guess the fan failure alerts were correct even if it was only the fan speed signal that had failed.
Then reset with os reinstall and fan control and indicators/tabs have returned.
ReadyNAS running sweet again. It must have been coincidence that the fan failed when the new disks were synchronizing.
