Error - Trust anchor for certification path not found

I regularly remotely download files from my NAS to either my phone or tablet using the Android ReadyCloud app.  Recently I have been unable to do so due to an error - "Trust anchor for certification path not found".  This happens on both devices and I have made sure they are both fully updated.  I also uninstalled and reinstalled the app but that didn't help.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks

The certificate issue should be resolved on the server side, please check your Android app, it should be working now.

    Thank you all.

      Indeed. Same problem.

I have tried reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, and clearing the application's settings.

I've checked my phone's root certificates and all the ones that are available to use are switched "ON".

        Please provide an update ASAP

Thank you all, we'll investigate this issue.

  • I have the same issue and wonder whether it is linked to a software update on my android a few days ago- all attempts to download files since the have failed with the same 'trust ancertificate cate' error message.

Good point. There was an Android security update release Nov 05/2020 and I recall having a reboot around then. Aligns pretty close to this issue.

      Pixel 3XL phone.

It's only sources where the CA certificate requires to be from a trusted source or has expired. We had this at work, once I found the actual issue was solved in fifteen minutes by requesting an updated certificate and applying.

Netgear will need to do the same thing with their APP and pubish the update in the App store.

If you're seeing it from website downloads then they will need to update their CA and or site certificate.

  • I have the same problem, can't upload or download from Android phone, app show error java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path

  • I have the same issue as everyone else since the update, any news on a fix?

      We are investigating this issue.

At the same time, you can use https://readycloud.netgear.com the web server to download/upload files, it's not as convenient as throught the app on a mobile device, but there is no other workaround at this moment.

  • Same problem for the past week, java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException:

Trust anchor for certification path not found

Re installed app and Restarted NAS, still the same problem.

As posted earlier in the thread, this is something Netgear has to fix.  Reinstalling, etc won't do it.
