    Hi stage

    Welcome to the Community!

You can actually migrate your old disk to the new ReadyNAS OS 6 System provided that the disks are healthy, it should be in a working order for the data recovery to be successful. You will just have to follow steps that is provided on this KB article. Please make sure you follow the steps carefully as this will help recovery to be successful, support will provide assistance on getting the data accessible to be copied to another storage.

Note: Once you have contacted support, they may charge for any Data recovery services.

    Hope this helps!

  • The drives can't be simply migrated.   You can engage support for this, but they will charge data recovery rates (which start at $200 USD).

Of course if you have a backup, you can simply do a factory reset in the RN214, and then restore your files from the backup.

    Your other options are to

    1. Mount the RAID array in a PC that can be booted up under linux.  You can then off-load the data yourself.
    2. Purchase RAID recovery software, and use that in a Windows PC (instead of linux).  This also lets you offload the data yourself.  Cost is similar to what Netgear would charge, but you would have RAID recovery software available to you in the future if you needed it.
    3. If your old NAS has a failed PSU, it is possible to replace it, and get it running again.  Then you can copy the data to the new NAS (or temporary storage) using frontview backup jobs.
    4. Similarly you could purchase a used NV+.  You need to be careful to match the platform type (v1 or v2).  And sometimes used systems aren't fully functional.
