how do I read data from a removed Duo V2 disk
I just updated my ReadyNAS Duo V2 to dual 2TB red disks, removing a 1TB Barracuda. It occurred to me that this was a good opportunity to test ReadyNAS data recovery, using the Barracuda. I put the 1TB in a USB enclosure and connected it to a Ubuntu 12.04 notebook, but it did not auto-mount.
I have searched this forum for instructions but all I could find were for SPARC-based units. There said to install and use "fuseext2' and 'lvm2". Are the Duo V1 procedures apply to the Duo V2?
I only thought that this was a good time to try something that I might need for myself or some one else in the future.

- BALR1415AspirantI removed the disk from the USB enclosure and installed it in a PC as the only SATA drive. I then booted the PC with a Knoppix 7 live CD. It did not show up in Knoppix although it was recognized by the BIOS.
My Linux is limited (as are most PC users) so I believe that I must manually mount the disk. So more research.
It seems like getting to data on a disk that has been removed from a ReadyNAS is not as simple as I would have believed. - mangroveApprenticeI would use http://www.ext2fsd.com/ and try mounting the disk in Windows. There are also multiple different utilities to recover data, TestDisk should work fine on a single RAID1 member.
- ncollingridgeAspirantThere is a good article on Cnet regarding access to ext2/3 drives from Macintosh systems:

You would need to start the RAID using mdadm (you may need to install this via apt-get), do a vgscan, vgchange -ay etc.
