How do I reset my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 password so that I can access it?
Hello!
I bought this NAS in 2011 or 2012. I installed the hard drives but never got around to use it.
This summer I did a complete wipe of the NAS because I had forgotten the password.
Quite stupidly I let my MacBook Pro suggest a new password for the NAS and even more stupidly I thought that I need not write it down because I saved it in my MacBook Pro.
Well, it turns out that I have forgotten the username and password again and I simply can't find that info in my MacBook Pro (whose hard drive is not feeling well at the moment. Something about bad sectors).
Therefore I would like to delete everything again and did a complete erase yesterday. When it was finished today (24 hours later) I still wasn't able to choose new password/username.
In order to not have to do that process again, how do I reset password/username?
What on earth is the difference between RAIDiator (which I have used) and ReadyCloud?
How can I see what OS is on the NAS?
Sincerely,
peanjo

It seems that the password/username reverted back to admin/netgear1 so I got access to the system!
But if someone knows the answer to the other two questions I would be grateful.
Sincerely,

To see what OS your are using download RAIDar to your MAC from here http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ReadyNAS/RAIDar_Mac_4_3_8.dmg
This will give you info about your Ultra and let you Browse it and enter Setup
where you should update to the latest versions of Raidiator (your OS), the current version is 4.2.29

Thank you for your reply. The name of the app I'm using is -as you correctly write- RAIDar, not RAIDiator.
I have 6.1.
Using it takes me to web based interface. Where do I find info on OS?
Sincerely,
peanjo

There is an OS re-install process that you can also use to reset the admin password on the NAS w/o destroying data. That is described on pages 12-13 of the hardware manual here: http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/HM/ReadyNAS_Ultra_UltraPlus_Pro_HW_13April11.pdf
It also resets the network configuration do use DHCP. But it shouldn't destroy any data.

They are completely different. RAIDiator is firmware that runs on your NAS. ReadyCloud is a Netgear cloud service for OS 6 NAS (you have the older OS 4.2). The cloud service lets you access your NAS over the internet. There are other ways to get similar features with your ultra-2
