How long should memory test run on Ultra 4?
I just upgraded the memory of my Ultra 4 to 2GB with Crucial 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Laptop Memory Model CT25664AC800. I started the memory test from boot menu. It's been running for more than 3 days and now on pass 44. Initially I though each pass might be different. But now I started to suspect that the memory test is an infinite loop for Ultra 4. It's hard to imagine there are 44 different tests. Does anyone know? I want to run a full test to make sure the memory is fine. But it does not make sense to repeat the same test, or the same set of tests, over and over.
The NAS booted into the normal operational mode after I plugged into power first time after DIMM installation. It looked fine. I hoped the memory test can give me a peace of mind. Now I have had a humming machine for 3 days :(

- wlyanAspirantI just read in the thread "Memory test ReadyNAS Ultra 2"
, after spending a couple hours searching and reading. The manual does not say anything regarding the loop!mdgm wrote: The memory test runs in a loop until it encounters a problem or is stopped. If still running after a few hours or so memory should be fine
I guess it answered my question. although it was about Ultra 4. Still, it would be nice someone can confirm it for Ultra 4.
If any ReadyNas people read this post please update the hardware manual and tell people the memory test is in a loop. - wlyanAspirantAlso, hope my chip's info helps. I bought my 2GB DIMM from Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148162 about two months ago. It has 16 chips, 8 on each side.
