Is SATA 3Gb/s interface the same as SATA 6Gb/s?
This is probably a stupid question... I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 and I tried to put in a Seagate Barracuda 1Tb 7200.12 disk, but it didn't seem to fit! I noticed on the HCL that this model is the 3G...

There is only one SATA interface and it is the same over all hard drives, be they SATA 1.5Gb/s, 3.0Gb/s or 6.0Gb/s or even if it is a 3.5" or 2.5" drive.
As to the ST31000528AS, I have 10 of them, and have had all of them in service at one time or another in the last three months between two NVX units and one NV+ unit. I currently have 4 in service across two NVX units and have given away two of them installed in my NV+ when it was rehomed.
Are you using the small flat head screws that came with the Ultra 2? Standard HD screw will not work! Chapter 4 of the hardware manual has a diagram.
