MS2000 Trying to Access

MS2000

SN: 27829C7D019F3
MAC: 0026F28641FD

Hello,

This product belonged to my now deceased Father. I have access to his Netgear account and the physical device.

I am trying to retrieve the data on the Netgear Stora device, which includes family photos/videos.

I am unsure of what to do, can somebody provide some help? I need a good starting place.

  • My condolences for your loss.

I'd start here and get the user manual.

    https://www.netgear.com/support/product/ms2000/#docs

Assuming it powers up and is connected to your home network, and the disks function properly, go to the Access Your Stora section under installation section.  You may need the username and password that was used to initially set it up.

Since I don't have this unit. I can't suggest anything more.  Hopefully, you'll get your content off.

I don't have this unit either, and Netgear dropped the cloud service for it back in 2020.

If you can't access the data from the system, it is possible to use data recovery software  - connecting the disk(s) in the stora to a Windows PC.

My understanding is that the Stora used the XFS file system.  There are a couple of specific RAID recovery packages suggested here:

Note Windows doesn't support this file system, so it won't mount the disks.  You'd need to use the recovery software.  Or find someone with the skills to manually mount the volume in a linux PC.

My understanding is that if the Stora was set up while the mystora.com website was still up and you know the user name and password, you can still access the data via the local network.  It has the same TLS version issue as older ReadyNAS, and I've also seen reverences that it needs flash player (which is not available for current versions of windows.  So, it's best if you also have the PC from which it was accessed.

But you may also want to see this: Stora_Harddrive_Recovery .
