nas102 over 30 hours for the first use? not possible!

Hi everyone, 2 days ago I have bought a nas102 diskless. I have putted inside a 2tb hdd. Following the discover instruction nothing happened, the online page didn't discovered the nas ,even though I pressed the backup button for 5 second. After that I made a factory reset, but after more than 30 hour the act led is on and the power led flashing, raid discover software found the nas but it indicates a led blue and the status is' installing '. What have I to do?

  • HI
    i solved , i don't know how !
    1) I putted inside a old 1tb hdd, the system started
    2) In the admin web page i made an firmware update
    3) I putted together the 1tb hdd with the new 2tb hdd
    4) the system tells me that it needs a sync, after 4 hour the sync is finished
    5) i left only the new 2tb hdd ,made a format and now it works

    Now a question :
can i put inside two different hdd ,disabling the raid and get the sum of the two hdd ?

Thanks for the answer, but when i try to ask support from support.netgear.com it comes out this error : "An unexpected error occurred while handling the request. Please press back and re-try. "

This is what the application says :

        Hi coslad73,

        Welcome to the community!

The installing status means it's installing the FW on your system. But that shouldn't take long. Can you confirm how did you perform the factory reset procedure? I also suggest that you use the latest RAIDar utility in your PC. You can download it here.

        Looking forward to your response.

        Kind regards,

When the ReadyNAS says that there is a disk with data on it and you need to get rid of the data before it can be used, then the disk itself had existing data. You get the same thing after factory deaulting?
Telnet is open but is for tech support mode use.

If you'd done the reset with only one drive in place, you could have done it easily.

Now you need to do another reset.  Best to do it with one drive in place.  Then change to flexraid before you insert the second drive.
