Netgear ReadyNAS 314 Has Login Issues

Hi everybody, this forum is amazingly helpful.  I’ve had some issues with my RN314 that I bought back in 2014 brand new, but after resolving my issue trying to delete a file (which was fixed VIA Os Reinstall) that was due to the unit being forcefully powered off).  My power was out for a few days due to where I live (Oklahoma) and the unit was shut down properly due to a UPS system being connected.  (I shut down manually by pressing the power button three times and let it do its thing).  I am having an issue, not sure if it’s because I’ve updated to the latest software (Version 6.10.9).  Which was done a day prior to the outage, I am having issues looking into the ReadyNAS admin page using the correct name (eg admin) and my password.  I know this is the password I’ve used for years on this unit, and sometimes it will successfully let me into the unit (admin page) or it will ask again, then I am able to login.  Sometimes after going through the hoops of logging in, simply refreshing the page asks me for my password again.  This only happens with chrome, safari.  (Apple IOS app versions) using desktop safari, and desktop chrome during this does not seem to have a issue unlike the apple IOS versions.  It is still accessible, but it’s a annoying bug.  I’ve tried downgrading to version 6.10.8, and version 6.10.7 but same issue.  (This was done today) so something is going on here.  I also need to install a VPN on the unit, but that is the least of my worry’s at the moment.  I’ve tried doing multiple OS reinstalls, and two factory resets same issue.  Don’t know what to do, worrying that the chassis is bad but like I said this is in a very clean, home environment and was connected to a UPS.  I would prefer not to send my logs due to the fact it contains some of my share names and I’m scared of it being leaked on this website.   I am able to view and report back to you about them.  Like I said before, it’s accessible just annoying.  Don’t know what to do, I’ve even tried USB recovery, same thing.

  • To be more clear, my IOS devices are on the latest firmware and what I meant by today is that is when I downgraded my firmware two-one version down I was having the issue.

Alright, I have checked trying to login to a device that uses the same login method as the ReadyNAS.  (What I means is that it doesn’t have its own login portal just uses the default browser type like the ReadyNAS uses).  And I am able to login fine, tried refreshing the page and all is good with that device.  The next thing that I am going to do is connect this to a old wifi router (while not connecting it to the LAN) and if it works fine there, then something in my network is forcing the wrong passwords to login to the unit.  If it doesn’t work, then something is wrong with the ReadyNAS (hopefully the first one).  I will update this post accordingly.

Are you addressing the NAS by IP address or name?  If by name, try by IP.

If that doesn't help, try logging in from an incognito window in Chrome to make sure it's not your browser that's sending the wrong password.
