Password reset isn't working on Readynas RDNP4000

I have a Readynas as below which won't reset to factory default password.  I installed new disks, a set of 4 3tb drives, and did a factor reset.  After 12+ hours the rebuild finished according to raidar, and during that time I could not log in.  I left it to complete withoug restarting hoping that was temporary.

After it finished, I did a pushbutton shutdown and restart of the drive, same thing.

I found the advise to use OS reinstall and performed that operation manually as instructed and saw a lot of activity on the LCD and with the disks.  Still will not allow login.

I have now started the process over again and have the same, symptom can't login in during reset, wrong password.  I hit it from several other systems browsers, with no record of the system, same symptom, so clearing browser cache won't work.

Ideas?  This is definitely a serious problem with the product if it won't reset with new disks for a new owner.  I probably cannot obtain the password from the former owner, so that probably isn't an option.

What password are you trying?  The default for OS 6 is "password".

Original seller of the drive replied with that trivia (password = password).  Never dawned on me that someone would change the defaults and not make it more of a visible detail that change was made, but ....
