Please help!
Hi,
Readynas Duo RND2120 V2 (for some reason not listed in the models available)
im new to readynas, my dad gave me his old box as he has just upgraded. i brought two new 4tb hdd that were listed on the combatible hdd list Western Digital Reds WD40EFRX
i set up the box for the first time following the instruction manual, took about 7 hours to sync, after logging in to frontview i can see the hdds but they are showing only 1674gb allocated for both, the box is set up in default raid mode which i think is when the other drive backs up the first one but the total shown for each drive is 1674gb. what have i done wrong? how do i get the rest of the space to show?
the firmware is the latest one 4.1.14
i may possibly look at getting another readynas but i really wanted to try this out and have a play with it to see if i'll actually use it or not?
thankyou and appoligies if these has been asked before i did have a search through old posts but couldnt find one to help.
Your NAS is an old model, and unfortunately doesn't support drives larger than 2 TB. So you can use a WD20EFRX, but not the WD40EFRX.

Unfortunately, it looks like you looked at the compatibility list for a RN2120 (a newer 4-bay rack mount system) and not an RND2120, which is not specifically listed in the compatibility list but is, as you have indicated in your model number, a ReadyNAS Duo (though V1, not V2). RND2120 means it is an RND2000 (Duo V1) shipped with with one 2TB drive. As StephenB has already stated, the largest drive the DuoV1 can use is 2TB. The drive list for that unit, and all the legacy units, is woefully out of date. It is best to stear clear of the "green" drives, and ones specifically marketed for NAS or Enterprise are best.
