Possible bad bay?
I have had to replace my (Drive 3) three times in the last 6 months. Growing Sector Errors.
All three times the drives were RMA'd back to Seagate and the failing/failed drives were each replaced with a reconditioned drive from Seagate.
Do you think we are looking at faulty reconditioned drives or could it possibly be a bad drive bay causing the sector errors?
Is there anyway to test this?
I was considering just going out and buying a NEW drive to see if sector errors start showing up again, but hate to waste the money if, in fact, it is the bay itself.
Thoughts?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI cannot envision any mechanism that would would result in the NAS creating bad sectors on a drive. Out-of-spec power or excessive vibration is the closest I can come, but both are a stretch.
I'd buy a new drive (different model) myself, and use the recertified drive somewhere else. Search this forum using the specific drive model you are considering before purchase.
