Pro2 and Firewall

Hello,

We are interested in purchasing the Pro2 to synch with Egnyte. However, we have a firewall with VPN installed on it. To access our network, people use VPN. I'm not sure how the Pro2 will be synched if it's behind the firewall. We have a company who monitors our infrastructure, but that have a separate SMS router that runs in parallel mode. We do have a Barracuda Backup storage device that sends backup information offsite, so maybe this will work similarly. I am not a network engineer, but a project manager.

Please let me know as we are ready to purchase the device.

  • Hi dgustafson,

OLC can still sync to Egnyte by allowing the NAS IP to connect via HTTPS. I’m assuming HTTPS connection isn't blocked, but if it is, simply allow the NAS IP to connect over HTTPS. If Barracuda Backup storage is allowed to send data offsite, the ReadyNAS device should be allowed to do the same. Users that are outside of the office won’t have to VPN to the NAS as they can connect directly to the Egnyte cloud file server to access data.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help.
