Question

Can anyone help I've bought a ultra 6 Nas and it was registered to the other owner so can I get this deregister with Netgear so I can use this on Netgears cloudThank

You can't re-register it, but I don't think you have to do that to run ReadyCloud.

You do need to conver the Ultra to run OS 6 firmware, since 4.2.x firmware isn't compatible with ReadyCloud.&nbsp; Have you done that?

No I'm still running off 4.2.31 firmware what firmware do I need to upload to the ultra 6 to do this.Also is this why I can't upload plex or any other firmware to the ultra 6

Current versions of plex are for OS-6 systems, not 4.2.31.&nbsp; I don't know what other firmware you are trying to install, so no idea on that.

Note you are on your own if you do this conversion - and you will lose Netgear support.&nbsp; That said, lots of people here have done it.

One thing to consider is whether you want to also increase the memory in the ultra 6.&nbsp; Currently shipping OS-6 systems all have at least 2 GB of RAM - your ultra only has 1 GB.&nbsp; Personally I suggest adding at least one more 1 GB module, or perhaps going with 2x2 GB.&nbsp; If youy want ot increase the RAM, I suggest doing that first.

Once you've done that, you'll need a full back up of the NAS, as the process is destructive.

Thank you for your help I will sort the memory first and bigger drives as it's telling me there full .My only concern is a full back does this mean copy every over to some where else as I've got 20tb of stuff on the ultra

RAID arrays (and NAS) can fail at any time, so if you care about the data on the NAS you need to back it up anyway.&nbsp; Perhaps get a couple 10 TB WD EasyStore drives.

That said - the disks are reformatted in the conversion process.&nbsp; The file system is completely different.&nbsp; The NAS needs to be set up from scratch, and you will need to reconfigure it, and restore all the data from a backup.

With OS 4.2.x there are two volume expansion limits:

A volume can't expand over 16 TiB (17.5 TB)
A volume can't expand more than 8 TiB from it's starting point

I think it's likely that you won't be able to expand your current array. The only way that would work is if you are running flexraid with multiple volumes.&nbsp;

What is your current disk configuration?&nbsp; Are you using FlexRAID or XRAID?
