Sep 24, 2014ReadyNAS 102 - external USB network LAN card
Hello,
I would like to connect external LAN card for my ReadyNAS 102. I have a USB-LAN (HAMA Model name:00049244) but when I connect I can't set it's IP address.
This card works in Debian without any problems, if I change in file /etc/network/interfaces.
Problem is that in ReadyNAS OS6 I can't see this file.
How can I add:
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.5
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.254
to set IP of second (USB) network Card

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWe use connman in OS6
We probably don't have the necessary drivers for this either. So you may need to compile those.
This isn't supported and the internal LAN ports would give better performance. - Retired_MemberThanks! Good.
I can see IP settings for internal ETH is OK. "ethernet_28c68...." but I can't see my USB_LAN card in /var/lib/conman/
When I connect USB_LAN to NAS and reboot I should see a directory od second card? If not it means that I have no drivers installed. Am I right?
I can't find linux drivers for (HAMA) USB_LAN (only Windows and MAC), could you recomend USB_LAN device for ReadyNAS?
Is there the list of compatibile USB devices? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI wouldn't recommend USB LAN. Not sure if it would work and it's not something we support.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced Userckarol86 - I am wondering why you aren't just using the built in ethernet?
- Retired_MemberI'm using built in Ethernet card, but I need to connect RN102 to two independent networks. Because of this I need to have one more ethernet.
I know that RN312 has two ETH cards, but I have got RN102, so I'm thinking how to solve it. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWell then, I think you got the wrong model for your requirements.
Even if you can find a way to make this work, performance will be poor.
I would recommend getting a 312.
