ReadyNAS 102: Any issues with 3TB drives?

Hi all,

I have a ReadyNAS 102 with two WD 1TB drives, but I'm getting close to full and want to upgrade to 3TB HDDs. I see a lot of discussions here about the 102 and 2TB drives, but not 3TB. Is there any problem with 3TB drives on the 102?

Thanks

Dell

  • 3 TB works fine, I've had WD30EFRX in mine for quite some time (2 1/2 years for the first drive).

I recommend NAS purposed drives (in the case of WD, that would be RED or RED Pro).

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I was considering Seagate Barracuda versus the WD Red as they are about $20 less at 3TB, but I've seen several discussions waving off the Barracuda. I'll take your advice and go with the WD Red.

I haven't seen any issues with the Seagate VN drives posted here, but lots of folks have had problems with the DMs.
