ReadyNAS 3200: mix SATA-Versions?
Hello community
We have had a ReadyNAS 3200 for 2 years now.
Now the first HDD's are having errors so we're expecting a HDD-failure soon.
Two years ago we equiped the NAS with 2GB SATA-II HDDs.
Meanwhile SATA-III became more affordable.
Now the question: is it possible to mix existing SATA-2 drives with new SATA-3 drives - i.e. I would like to replace the failing HDDs with newer SATA3.
Is this possible or won't that work with XRAID-2?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou can put in any 2TB disk from the compatibility list: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20686/
Yes you can use both SATA II and SATA III disks. - giotto22AspirantThanks for the quick response.
So 3TB disks aren't supported?
If I put in a 3TB disk - would it simply not run, or may it run but Netgear doesn't give support for it? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired3TB disks would work in bays 1-4 only. The controller used for bays 5-12 does not support 3TB disks. You could use disks on the compatibility list for the 4200 v2 in bays 1-4 but NetGear would not support the use of disks in the 3200 that are outside the compatibility list for the 3200.
