ReadyNAS Duo V2 Issues I am having.

I have owned the ReadyNAS Duo V2 for quiet some time now but have never gotten it to work correctly. I can finish the setup process correctly but if the system looses power or is shutdown it act's as if it was never setup. I have 4x HITACHI PN:0F10312 and 2x HITACHI PN:0F12115. All the drives are 2TB drives. If I use the drives in the system (ReadyNAS Duo V2) I can format them and write to the but once I shutdown the system or it looses power I have to start over. I am going to order some WD Red driver for the system (ReadyNAS Duo V2). I would like to use my current HITACHI drives in my Desktop but I cant format them. I am assuming that the drives are locked by the ReadyNAS Duo V2. How can I unlock these drives to start using them in a windows system. I have tried multiple different partitioning tools (windows and Linux both).

To the right of User Control Panel above you will see e.g. "1 new message". Click on that link.

When the disks are locked, a factory default every boot and the disks not being usable in a PC are classic symptoms.
  • Rather an old thread, but would this work? You'd need ssh access of course.

I've also read that doing another secure erase can fix this?

All this is probably academic as mdgm has probably fixed it for you by now.

I haven't got a response to my PM yet.

Yes, that fix via SSH would work if you are comfortable with using that. Though the issue is that if SSH is not already enabled that installing root ssh requires a reboot so the factory default would be done before SSH could be enabled.
  • I started a secure erase yesterday but now the readynas detection tool dosent detect the nas system anymore. what should i do?
  • Is it still doing the secure erase?
Have you tried access without raidar, with ipaddressofnas/admin in a browser?

I unlocked the disks which had become locked and now the NAS is working fine.
