Readynas NV+ ver 1 equivalent ?
I currently have an NV+ ver 1 which has just died on me. So I have two needs. 1). What would be the new equivalent model? 2). How do I get my data from the old unit to the new one? I was hoping I could just drop the drives into a new model but apparently that won't work. The old unit has 3 1TB drives that were running in an xraid configuration.
The primary use for the readynas is just a home storage system. Photos, movies, iTunes music etc. Have both a PC and Mac environment.
Thanks in advance!

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIn the new line, the equivalent model would be the RN104. The RN314, RN514 are higher performance business versions.
You could also consider a Pro-4, as they are being discounted as they roll over to the new line. It would have a 5 year warranty, much higher performance than your NV+, and a similar GUI.
Either way, you can't migrate your disks. There is a post here that gives you some options, but it assumes a fair amount of facility with linux: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306.
Do you have a backup? - YeahhAspirantNo, unfortunately I don't have a backup...my readynas pretty much acts as my backup.
I'll take a look at the options you mentioned. I'm fairly technical but have zero experience with Linux.
I'm trying to find a used NV+ for sale that I could swap into but that is proving difficult. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhen did you buy the NV+ v1? I would say the RN314 would be the equivalent model if you bought mid-2009 or earlier.
Is your serial number in this range?: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=54911 - YeahhAspirantI have no idea when this model was bought. I got it in a trade for some other equipment. Interestingly enough on the back of the unit it does not have a serial number.
I think for my fairly basic needs the 104 looks like it will get the job done. The 314 would obviously be better, but im not sure it's worth the extra $$ for my needs.
My main issue now, is how to transfer my HD's or data off the old unit into a new one. - chirpaLuminaryIt likely already had a PSU swap then. The serial number sticker was on the PSU portion.
- YeahhAspirantIt was 100% brand new in ox though?
