Replacement of one harddrive in readynas104
Hello Team,
We have Readynas 104 Network access drive and in that we have used 4Nos. of 4TB seagate and model no for the same is ST4000DM000. We have confiugred RAID 5 in it. Now of the Hard drive has got faulty and we have to replace the same.
ST4000DM000 model hard drive is discontinued and now it comes with Model No: ST4000DM005. If I use the different model which (ST4000DM005), will it cause any issue for me?
Thanks in advance.

You could also go for a used one to work together with those three being already there. In this case ask the seller for the following parameters:
- Start/Stop count
- PowerOn hours
- Power cycle count
- Load cycle count
- Health data (errors)
To get an idea about acceptable values for your case just check the properties of the remaining disks in your nas by going to the webadmin page. On the tab /system/performance use the mouse to hover over one of the healthy disks and scroll down to the end of the displayed information. Your "new" disk should not be far above or below the values you see there.
Advantage with this approach:
- cheaper disk
- better fit into existing environment
Generally DM Seagates haven't worked out that well with RAID (though most of the problems are with the 3 TB model). I'd get a 4 TB NAS-purposed drive (Seagate Ironwolf or WDC Red). You can mix/match models (and even manufacturers) with no problem.
Personally I wouldn't get a used drive for my NAS (though there are posters who do).
