Readynas RN104 4 x 2TB Seagate NAS hard drives
Problem :2nd Volume degraded, seemed to happen after firmware update, I replaced the degraded volume with same size and type HDD, after system went through rebuild it now says Volume 2 degraded.
any suggestions much appreciated. I've only had this system less than 6 months.
Cheers
Rob
I mean that you have described your setup as having a 2nd volume, and the nas saying that Volume 2 is degraded. This implied to me that there is a Volume 1 and a volume 2; in other words that your setup is not the default raid 5, but perhaps 2 separate volumes.
I am now thinking you are using the word "volume" instead of "disk"
The readynas uses degraded to describe a volume that is still intact but is no longer redundant. A disk that has died is described as dead.
yeh, im a bit confused on the terminology, says volume is degraded but Disk 2 state is failed
Clearly you have moved on from this now, and it appears that a disk was faulty and the replacement may be problematic too.
