WD2003FYYS RE4 - 2.0TB
Hello,
I was thinking of buying 4 of these WD2003FYYS disks for my NVX. But they are not listed in the official NVX Hcl.
On the other hand when i take a look in the HCL of the NVX pioneer edition, then this drive is listed.
Is it safe to assume that the drives are also compatible with the NVX?
Thanks for your feed back

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat is weird.
Both the NVX and NVX Pioneer have the same hardware so I think they *should* work. However if you have issues support may be unable to help so long as it's not listed for your ReadyNAS model. - vanguideAspirantthanks for the reply mdgm,
same idea here, i'm not in the position to spent that much money on drives that may or may not be supported.
Do you know if someone from netgear could clarify this issue, maybe it's just a doc error.
Greetings, - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHopefully one will come across this thread and then check for you. It's currently in the early hours of the morning where most of them are, so they're unlikely to visit the forum for a few hours yet.
- vanguideAspirantLets hope so,
And many thanks for the info. - Han_SoloTutor

The WD2003FYYS should be listed as qualified for the NVX also, I updated the HCL to reflect that. - vanguideAspirantHello Han Solo,
Wanted to add a comment after receiving a mail from netgear support.
I now see that you handled my request, many thanks.
and mtfbwy ;-) - RobVSFAspirantHan, or any Jedi admin,
We currently use a ReadyNAS 1100 (with RAIDiator 4.1.7) here in the office equipped with four 750GB drives, and I currently use a ReadyNAS NVX at home working perfectly with four, recently upgraded WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives. I am looking to upgrade our ReadyNAS 1100 with four 2TB drives, and without thinking of looking up the HCL for a ReadyNAS 1100, automatically assumed that the same WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives I use in my NVX at home will work with the 1100 in the office. I just checked the HCL for the 1100 and saw that the WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives are not supported. And yes, I already purchased the new drives before checking the HCL (beats head on desk).
Well, I already purchased the four WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives, and they are just sitting here on my desk. I would really like to use these drives in the ReadyNAS 1100, as I do not like the brands or performance of the other 2TB drives recommended by the 1100 HCL. I would really like to avoid using the other recommended drives, and upgrading the 1100 to different $1000+ NAS is going to be a tough sell to the office manager.
My question is: can I use WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives in my ReadyNAS 1100, even though they are not recommended on the 1100 HCL? If not, can you give me advice on the best course of action for using the WD RE4 WD2003FYYS drives? Is upgrading the office ReadyNAS hardware the only option?
Thanks,
- Rob - - wrustAspirant

I have the same question on ReadyNAS RND2000.... - rygar74AspirantYesterday i received my new DUO v2 as a replacement to the old DUO. I installed two new WDC RE4 WD2003FYYS and they are working perfectly. I'm using the latest 5.3.5-T33 firmware. These disks are not yet in the official compatibility list. However that list mentions a RE4-GP WD2002FYPS which i think is a bit older than the FYYS.
- RobVSFAspirantThat's great to know. It's unfortunate this wasn't the case 9 months ago. We just solved the problem by purchasing a newer ReadyNAS NVX, which we shouldn't have had to do in the first place. I do find it interesting that the WD2003FYYS RE4 drives are still not on the compatibility list for the ReadyNAS 1100. In any case, we do still have the 1100 here in the corner just collecting dust. Perhaps when we need to upgrade to more storage, we can give it another go. Thanks for posting your findings.
