WD60EFRX WD Red 6TB For ReadyNAS104?

Fry's has started offering the WD 6TB Network NAS HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache for $239. I know this new drive is not on the official compatibility list. Will the RN104 support 6TB drives? If so, how long will it take for this drive to be evaluated/approved?

To maximize the 16TB volume size can you use 4 - 6TB drives? That would give 16.34TB in a raid 5. Could the extra be made available as another volume?
4x6TB RAID-5 is a little over the 16 TiB limit, and the ReadyNAS does not let you create multiple volume on the same disks.

If you want 4x6TB RAID-5, then you need to step up to the RN200 series or better.

Volumes > 16TB won't work on the 104 so this does limit what RAID levels you could use.

If you use drives outside the compatibility list and run into issues then support may refuse to help.

So if you use 6TB disks it is even more important than otherwise that you make sure that you backup your data regularly
