What is the difference between Model 314D and 314E

RN31443D-100NAS and RN31443E-100NAS appear the same, but the E model is more than $500 more. Why?

Thanks for help in my upcoming purchase!

  • The "E" comes with enterprise drives, the "D" comes with less expensive desktop drives.

The cheapest approach is usually to buy it diskless, and then purchase 4 WD30EFRX (Western digital) or 4 ST3000VN000 drives (Seagate) separately. Both drives are ~$125 each in the US at the moment, so you'd add $500 (possibly a bit more) to the diskless purchase price. The two drive models listed above have 3 year warranties, and are intended for NAS use.
