#19436397 5.3.6 ARM-Unable to use ReadyNAS remote
Hi
Duo V2
Since upgrading to 5.3.6 users have been unable to access log into the NAS via ReadyNAS remote.
I get "ReadyNAS Remote Online - Andy Asker" but it never actually connects to the server itself using "Connect to ReadyNAS"
In Radiator ReadyNAS remote is marked as "Internet Connection" and "Online".
-Checked Readynas Remote is enabled
-Removed/Readded Accounts.
-Created new ReadyNAS remote Account
-Disabled Router/OS firewall
-Reinstalled latest client
-Removed latest client 1.6.5.18, full clean up with CCleaner, reinstalled 1.6.5.18
-Tried without encryption
-Tried on Mac
-Rebooted ReadyNAS Box twice.
-Rebooted pc several times.
-FTP access working fine.
Same problem, cannot access shares. Help!
Thanks
Andy

- andyaskGuideQuick Update: Resolved this by
1) Set up port forwarding on Virgin Media Router , Port 6000 set to forward to my local IP
2) In Radiator, under System-Settings-Remote Access - Advanced Settings : specified incoming port of 6000
It now works without fail, although annoyingly, I get a pop-up "Netgear is Offline" in the remote client, even though it is actually online!
Conslusion: The ReadyNAS Duo V2 feature "does not require port forwarding" may have been broken by 5.3.6. It worked perfectly with 5.3.5 and no port forwarding.
Andy - rozelAspirantThis is getting stupid!
I too have just "upgraded" to 5.3.6 on my ReadyNas Duo v2 thinking it would improve things.
Now I too cannot log in and where the f**k is the "ReadyNas Remote" add-on in "Add-ons" so that I can manage my users?
Somebody please for gods sake - I have spent an eternity getting to the point where I had 3 users being able to log in to my server - I daren't ask them at this point whether they still can or not. I have tried logging in from my pc through the ReadyNas Shares folder and double clicking my server's icon - it refuses to accept my credentials when I insert them.
Oh and am not prepared to go as far as Port Forwarding like the previous user - why should I?
Hope this can be resolved like yesterday! - gillmaccaAspirantReadyNas remote is no longer on add-on on the NAS. It has been integrated with the firmware
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes as mentioned above open the Dashboard, click Configure and go to System > Settings > Remote Access.
If you are having problems with Remote on 5.3.6 and can't fix it open a support case and if they can't help try sending a PM to cap1. - bhw752kAspirantHello. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I cannot seem to even find the newly relocated ReadyNAS Remote settings in the firmware.
From the Dashboard, I went to System. Then Settings. Here are the expandable headers I have (in order, from the top):
SECURITY, POWER, UPDATE, BACKUP, ALERTS.
I expanded all of these headers and did a Ctrl F for 'Remote' and didn't find anything.
Under Dashboard > System > Overview my firmware is listed as 5.3.6 and under addons, ReadyNAS Remote (which had been installed and working fine prior to updating my firmware) is now gone. I've tried re-flashing the firmware by downloading the ~82 MB file to my computer and uploading it manually to the ReadyNAS via Dashboard > System > Settings > UPDATE.
Please, can someone help me figure out what's wrong? Or direct me to exactly where I can enable ReadyNAS Remote? Thank-you. - rozelAspirantIt's a joke!
I too like the above user did not have anything regarding ReadyNas Remote - I had to reinstall my previous Remote Add-On, then quite by magic the ReadyNas Remote setting referred to by mdgm appeared! But still no capability regarding management until I invoked the add-on which is supposed to be integrated!
And if that isn't enough there is a a further option for something called ReadyDrop - wth is that for heavens sake? And I cannot switch it on to check for myself.
Please will some of you guys please try to inform NetGear that we need full operating instructions before we are prompted to upgrade - we are not all techyies like some of you
Ta much - bhw752kAspirantHi Rozel, could you please explain to me how you reinstalled the previous Remote Add-On? I too would like to experience some of this magic... Thanks...
- cap1AspirantI am happy to help everyone in this thread, please IM me and I will follow up.
Thanks - cap1AspirantYou should see Remote Access under System settings. If you don't please clear your browser cache and try again. Also check that your users still appear in you allowed list under remote access. Readydrop can only be enabled if remote access is started. If you still have problems please IM me and I will sort it out.
- cap1AspirantDon't install the old remote addon, it will cause problems
