4.1.6 causing problems with Bittorrent Download Manager Duo

Since firmware upgrade I cannot access download manager page.
I can get a work around by turning off, then back on the bittorrent service and this gives between a few seconds and about 2 mins access before it stops again.

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware to 4.1.5 which had no such problems?

  • It works mate! Many thanks! Lets have a look how it will be on the time beeing.

I've got how this broken links appeares. Downloading files with the existing file name in the destination folder gives a result. Downloaded files can't be moved in the destination library and they sits in the .bttorrents folder and lock BitTorrent GUI to response on user request. It must be fixed in the future release...
  • im have the same problems with transmission, looks like its 4.1.6 rather than the bittorrent manager then
  • I had a similar problem with a NV+.

The torrents which had completed download had been moved to the /media/BitTorrent directory, but the directory/folder structure remained in the hidden c/.bittorrent directory - that is it contained each directory/folder from the torrent, but every one was empty. This was the case for the two torrents which had completely downloaded.

The unit is only a few months old and no add-ons have been installed or changes to the basic config made; it is running the 4.1.6 firmware. Previously it has downloaded 2 or 3 torrents perfectly.

After I deleted the empty directories from c/.bittorrent and re-booted the NAS, the download manager worked fine.

To access the hidden c/.bittorrent directory at a Windoze command prompt enter
    net use t: \\ip.address.of.nas\c /user:admin
This will map the directory to the t:\ drive. Ensure you have enabled file explorer to view hidden files.

    [Edit]
The directories are re-created and it appears the way to fix the problem is as posted above, look inside the .torrent and .fastresume files (which are located in the .bittorrent directory) and identify the ones which relate to completed downloads and delete them.
  • I can't access the download folder. When I use the line "net use t: \\192.168.0.151\c /user:password" the command prompt closes and nothing happens. I have enabled "show hidden files". This is driving my nuts atthe moment and I would be thankful for any help!

    Regards,
    Martin
  • A few other questions:

    1. What version of Windows are you using?
    2. What IP address does RAIDar report?
    3. Are you typing the command in a command prompt window (as opposed to typing it in the RUN dialog box or creating a batch file)?

    It should look like this:

  • This works greaot, but what happens to seeding? When the OS moves til torrent file and i delete i the files in c directory, i gues the seeding will stop?

How do i restart the bittorrent service? Pretty noob so if someone could explain this step by step:)
  • Thanks UKZappa - your advice works a treat. It was really frutrating to lose the bittorrent control page. i'm glad there is a work-around.

This may or may not be related to the problems outlined here but I sometimes cannot get access to the BitTorrent Download Manager. My browser just sits there with a white/blank screen.

    There is a small bug.

When you add a download, 2 files plus place holder(s) for the actual download (possibly in its/their own directory) are added to the .bittorrent directory. Note that I'm referring to the hidden directory .bittorrent not the visible directory BitTorrent.

    Use: net use <drive letter>: \\<IP address>\d admin /user:admin
    to access .bittorrent.

When the download completes, it is moved to the BitTorrent directory. The remaining 2 files (?.fastresume and ?.torrent) are deleted. However, sometimes the delete is not performed. If this happens, you can no longer access the manager.

If you only had one torrent downloading then simply delete the contents of .bittorrent. If you have multiple downloads on the go, you will need to identify the correct 2 files. Simply look inside each .torrent file until you identify the correct one then delete it together with it's corresponding .fastresume file.

You will then need to stop and restart the BitTorrent service using Frontview.

You should now find all is well and you have access to the BitTorrent Download Manager as normal.
  • I'm having issues with this on my readynas duo. I open Download Manager and a blank page opens but nothing loads. Stopping and starting the service fixes it for about two minutes.

I don't understand why UKZappa is saying below.

I installed Transmission but when I open that, nothing displays.
