Confusion regarding ReadyNAS photos

I bough a Ready Nas Duo a while ago, and just recently started playing with the remote functions. It's running Firmware 4.1.9 at the moment.
Back then then i tried to share photos, because i saw there was an add-on for that. I had a lot of problems with it, and i never got it to work.
But today i wanted to try it again, and i removed the ReadyNAS photos add-on to start from scratch (before i did that, i saw there was a button "Install" but it linked to a url that docent excist anymore).
Now I'm reading something about ReadyNAS photos 1 is discontinued. And if you want to share photos you have to use readyNAS photos 2, is this correct?
It looks like my ReadyNAS doesn't support that version, it says can't be installed because it's a different architecture. It does state that i need to use a firmware above 4.2.something.
To boil everything down to one question, do i really have to buy a new NAS to be able to use photo sharing?

- ReadyNAS Photos I is discontinued.
You would need a new ReadyNAS to use ReadyNAS Photos II.
The new Duo/NV+ v2 (ARM) and the Ultra/Pro (x86) is what you would need. Note to learn how to tell the difference between the Duo (v1) and the Duo v2 see How to tell whether I have a Duo v1 or Duo v2 or NV+ v1 or NV+ v2 - Thanks for the help.
- You don't need to buy new ReadyNAS to share photos. Just find any software to make photo galleries (there is at least dozen of them, also freeware). It's often that popular photo manipulating software can make gallery also. Put the gallery on your ReadyNAS in a folder accessible from the internet via http and send link to your friends. That's it.
