Connecting to ReadyNas via ReadyNasRemote
Hi guys,
Over the last week there were all sorts of errors being posted by user about the ReadyNas remote recent update. I just tried reinstalling ReadyNas remote - not getting the same errors I did last week so it appears that the bug has been resolved.
My next problem is - connecting to the share that I created on the ReadyNas from another computer. When I login to ReadyNaS Remote from an offsite computer, and select "Connect to Ready NAs", a folder on this computer pops up. (Was kind-of thinking that some type of file/directory user interface would pop up, loaded with all the files I added to the NAS)
Anyway, shouldn't I now see something in the folder that pops up? Its totally empty.
I thought I had created the share successfully on the NAS and got that all setup appropriately.
What am I missing here....?
Thanks!

- marktb1961AspirantI have the same issue. I had it before the update and I have it still following the update. The ReadyNas Folders folder is empty.
The shares are totally accessible locally.
I checked my way through the ReadyNas Remote installation / setup instructions but could not see where I'd gone wrong. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you follow the setup instructions here?: http://www.readynas.com/remote
- davidfvAspirantOK.. I know that I have followed the instructions and see my user information on the ReadyNAS. Yet I still get a blank folder that comes up. Anyone find a solution?
David - marktb1961AspirantTriple checked the instructions. Fresh installs on two other clients - Vista and Windows 7 - get the same result; ReadyNas shares folder is empty.
I notice that the ReleaseNotes installed with the ReadyNas client - a short document with two lines dating from 2009 - itemise a change as "reducing the number of can't see folders errors". Seems like it didn't reduce it that much.
I'm going to try de-installing and re-installing the add-on. Can't think of anything else. - sansmithAspirantMy NV+ had v4.1.7 and RAIDar 4.3.1. I installed ReadyNAS remote per the instructions in the document. After I login and then select 'Connect to ReadyNAS' I do see a new folder in Windows Explorer called 'ReadyNAS Shares' and it is empty. I copied over a folder into the new ReadyNAS folder, and then logged out of ReadyNAS remote. After logging on again and selecting 'Connect to ..........' the folder is STILL empty.
When I select Start and type in \\nas I see all my allowed shares for that user, but still a blank 'ReadyNAS Shares' folder.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I still had the same result.
Windows Vista 32-bit upgraded to Window 7 32-bit Home Premium
What is the problemo people??? - KN123AspirantI am experiencing the same problem.
I am new to the forum and ReadyNAS...
I checked for the latest versions.
I uninstalled and reinstalled according the the instructions in this forum.
I rebooted the NAS and the client machines several times.
Here is what I know.
ReadyNAS Duo
Client
Windows 7
ReadyNAS REMOTE 1.6.5.16
BIOS 4.1.7
Remote Addon - 1.0.9.51
RAIDAR 4.3.1
It acts like it is working but i can't see any shares.
or the file that I am suppose to click on to see shares.
(instructions say "You’ll see the ReadyNAS entry in your Windows File Explorer") I don't.
We can see shares locally.
Shares have a mix of permissions
and at least 3 shares are open to be viewed by everyone.
Please help. - Cain1AspirantI'm in the same boat as you guys..
I can connect to my NAS but do not see any files or folders. - james_metAspirantI have exactly the same problem.
Both on a mac book, pc and iphone all appear to connect correctly when remote and yet no files are available.
Seem to be running out of options of things to try but this does seem to be a common problem.
Please help!!! - james_metAspirantThis worked for me.
horim80 wrote: 1.0.9.60 seems has issue. I know that version included in 4.2.17
In my case, downgrade to 1.0.9.51 then working good. - cg5000Aspirant

You have to go into AddOns, Add New (Install ReadyNas remote)
Then go to add ons, installed, click on ready nas remote, and add the user that you want to have permisison to the share. This will make a small blue icon appear int hat blank folder...thats what gets you the ability to see your files. :)
