disable root ssh
I've recently installed the EnableRootSSH addon on my ReadyNas Ultra. I prefer to disable SSH when I don't need it, and I assumed I could disable root ssh access by just disabling / uninstalling the add-on. Unfortunately the add-on doesn't show up in the list of installed add-ons. For a moment I thought it would be a toggle (just like the Toggle SSH) so I reinstalled it, hoping this would disable SSH. But no...
The question is: how to disable or uninstall the EnableRootSSH?

- chirpaLuminaryYou can run the ToggleSSH add-on to disable the service.
- tedanoellAspirantYou mean through ToggleSSH disable EnableRootSSH?
You do not have mobile signal. http://www.techquark.com/2014/08/5-reasons-to-get-mobile-phone-signal.html - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes it will. However do note that support will still be able to tell that SSH has been enabled since the last factory reset and may deny support if you mucked things up using SSH.
Rather than disabling SSH it's better to set a strong password and to not expose port 22 (SSH port) on your NAS to the internet (i.e. don't port forward port 22 from your router to the NAS). - gleidAspirantI cannot find a working toggle addon for my radiator 4.2.19. Did you manage to disable the ssh miels?

- gleidAspirantThanks! Think I managed to disable it. Any way I can test if it worked? It says disabled in the log btw...
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTry to SSH in and it should say connection refused.
- gleidAspirantI tried to do that via telnet in command prompt, but couldn't figure out the correct command. if the nas is named: 192.168.0.0 Should I write: o root@192.168.0.0? Or use admin? I am bit new to the whole ssh thing :S :?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTry using PuTTy (free program) on Windows. Select the SSH option and attempt to connect to the IP address of your NAS.
On Mac/Linux one would simply use the Terminal. - gleidAspirantThx! I will try it out on a Linux instalation I have on one of my computers!
