downloading torrent to nas at work. controll it at home?
hi. :)
when reading on NAS homepages i came to this:
"Best of all, queuing of the torrents can be done over the web from a slower wireless laptop, but the actual downloading is done on the ReadyNAS which is usually resides on a faster wired connection to Internet."
My Nas i plugged in at router at work.there i have a high speed nettwork.
and i want to start, stop and remove downloads from my laptop at home.
can someone help me with this and explain in a simply way :)
i have enabled remote client on the nas
and installed remote client on my windows laptop.
sorry if my english is crap, am from norway :)

i have tried to clip/copi the url to the nas page in bittorent manager.
how do i download just the torrent file to the laptop?
because when i press download on the webpage utorrent on my laptop starts up.
i want to try opening the torrent file in my NAS - dbott67GuideI do this all the time using the Transmission add-on, rather than the built-in BitTorrent client: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=24271
Basically, you will need to forward Transmission's listening port (in my case, TCP port 8181) to the internal IP address of my NAS (192.168.128.2) on your router:
To access the Transmission client remotely, just enter the remote IP (or DynDNS name) and port as shown below:http://68.7x.xxx.xxx:8181/

- carl666Aspirantohh, this is not easy on a newbie..:/
you do not know of a solution of making the onbord client to work? please :)

Regardless of whether you use the built-in client or Transmission client (or any other client, for that matter) the steps are the same - you will need to forward the listening port of the bittorrent client. My recommendation is to use the Transmission client, as it is regularly updated and offers more features and functionality than the official BT client.
Once you have configured port-forwarding correctly, the process is simple.
1. Right-click the desired .torrent file and select "Copy link location" (or "Copy shortcut" in Internet Explorer):
2. Then paste the link into the client and click "Upload":
3. Wait for the torrent to complete! :)
Easy as 1, 2, 3! - carl666Aspirantokey i try.
this Transmission client.. do i install it on my laptop or on my nas?? - dbott67Guide
- carl666Aspirantokey. understand.

After installing Transmission and forwarding the correct port on your router (8181), then you will need to enter the IP and port number in the address bar:http://external.ip.of.nas:portnumber
So, if your external WAN ip was 12.34.56.78, you would typehttp://12.34.56.78:8181
You will be prompted for the Transmission username & password:Web interface on port 8181
default user is : admin
default password is : password1
Bittorrent port is : 51413
Default Download path /c/media/BitTorrent/
PeerBlocklist updated each day
Settings can be changed in Frontview UI and in Transmission WebInterface and in /addons-config/Transmission/transmission-daemon/settings.json
scheduler for bandwidth is removed and now handled by settings.json
Transmission can monitor a directory - carl666Aspiranttrying to acsess my nas from home.(the nas is at work)

That's expected behaviour. If you try to access the NAS over http (port 80) or https (port 443) you will get the "Shares" window.
As noted above, in order to access Transmission, you need to specify the port:
http://ip.address:8181/ - Transmission Interface - requires add-on to be installed and appropriate ports forwarded on your router
If you want access to Frontview:
https://ip.address/admin - Frontview Admin Interface
If you want access to your shares over HTTP
http://ip.address/ - Shares
