Dropbox ?
Dropbox is a very handy service for keeping files in sync across multiple computers and it support Windows, Mac, and Linux. I have only tested in Windows so far, but I use Linux as well and might use Mac eventually as well; I would really like to have a share on my Readynas that automatically stays in sync with a folder on all my computers.
Does anyone know if Dropbox can be installed on the Readynas, and if an addon might be possible, if not does anyone know of another free service that can be installed on the Readynas?

- matgrAspirantOk, I've tried it and while my dropbox content is now on my NVX if I add new content its not getting synced to DB and if I add new content to DB its not appearing on the NVX. So I guess a process/job is not running.
:? - matgrAspirantI've found out after installing that If I run the below Dropbox syncs, until then it does not.
su - dropbox -c "env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib64:/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib .dropbox-dist/dropboxd &"
The Deamon does not seem to run at startup even though I have the script in place.
Any ideas? - WhoCares_MentorThe ReadyNAS doesn't use (most of) the startup scripts at all. So you either patch it into readynas_startup (and loose the patch on the next upgrade of your firmware) or you find another way of starting it automatically.

Thanks Stefan, its bit beyond me so if you know how I add it to the readynas startup that would be great. - boz0AspirantCan't remember exactly where the startup script is, for the sake of the example let's assume it is /etc/init.d/dropbox.
You just have to create a symbolic link in the /etc/rc2.d folder (you'll need root priviledges) :ln -s /etc/init.d/dropbox /etc/rc2.d/S99dropbox
The service will now restart automatically with your readynas. You can also start it manually if you don't want to restart the readynas at this time :/etc/init.d/dropbox start
Also, please note that you will no longer see the little icons on your dropbox files (up-to-date or syncing), since the filesystem won't be a local filesystem on your computer(s). - efalskenAspirantI'm looking at running the Dropbox CLI client on my ReadyNAS Pro too. I was thinking of a "DropBox" folder in my user share would be good enough. That leaves it open to connect to multiple dropbox user accounts (me and my wife both have an account). Does anyone have or know of a good walkthrough?
- sphardy1ApprenticeThe CLI client defaults to creating an using a "Dropbox" folder in each users home directory. There are tools to relocate the folder, but a symlink to the new location works just a well.
As for instructions, just follow the wiki instructions on The Dropbox web site - they work just fine - the_evaluatorAspiranti'd still like to vote for someone to develop a community add-on for this- i'd kick in 25 euro to the cause...
- chirpaLuminaryI'll probably whip one up after I finish some other projects. Maybe a few weeks from now...

We can do this together if you like, I'm quite advanced with an add-on based on 1.0.20.
