ReadyNASRemoteUpgrade.exe disables network adapter
I am just configuring a new ReadyNas and had set up ReadyNASRemote when it informed me I had to upgrade. I just downloaded and ran the upgrade but it modifies and disables the network adapter and I have to unistall it to get my network & the internet back. Not good Netgear...please fix this ASAP as it will not allow me to run the regular download without upgrading.

- NAS_iz_coolAspirantYou are not alone. I've just spent over an hour troubleshooting this extremely frustrating problem. I only have a partial fix thus far:
-Go to Network Connections.
-Go to Properties for you Local Area Connection.
-If things are the same for your problem as mine you will see that the new Remote installer is incorrectly adding the NETGEAR Firewall Driver to your LAN connection. It is NOT supposed to do this as this is only for the Remote network adapter. Uncheck that box and then click OK.
-You should now have restored network access.
However, if your situation is like mine, you will still not be able to use Remote. I am consistently getting a "Initialization Failed. Error code: -3" message.
For other's reference: the version that we are being forced to upgrade to is 1.6.5.16. Trying to go back to 1.6.5.11 does not work because it just tries again to force the upgrade. This is a pretty frustrating experience currently. :(
Hopefully someone from Netgear can help us out. I depend on ReadyNAS Remote quite a bit, so the recent events are very disappointing.
I hope the above is helpful to you!
:) - alillowrAspirantI too am having the same issues
Netgear..please fix - NAS_iz_coolAspirantA little update:
I just checked another computer (which has not yet forced me to upgrade the ReadyNAS Remote client software) and on that computer the NETGEAR Firewall Driver is installed for the LAN connection too, so I spoke incorrectly when I assumed that it should NOT be installed for the Local Area Connection. This does not, however, answer the question as to what has changed in the install process of this new version of Remote that causes a conflict with the other network adapter.
The NETGEAR Firewall Driver is the same version on both computers: 6.0.1.41(08/11/2010). So I am guessing that the problem is not with this driver itself, but in something else.
I am guessing that disabling the driver in the LAN connection may contribute to the Remote software no longer working, but until I find another way to still have my network connection work I am not going to re-inable that driver. - tjmollicaAspirantI am having the same problem. The ReadyNAS Remote upgrade modifies the leaf network, according to the installation log. Uninstalling Remote restores the network connection to normal. This is a serious flaw in the upgrade.
- NAS_iz_coolAspirantWhat firewall software is everyone using? I just recently upgraded to the latest Norton suite (provided by my internet provider). The firewall rules are different between the computer with the old ReadyNAS Remote client and the computer with the new client and all the problems. I tried changing the firewall rules to match the computer that works, but that did not have any effect.
- katmanAspirantSame problem here as well--new ReadyNAS Remote update hosed my Internet connection. Tried disabling the Leaf Networks LAN connection, but didn't resolve a thing. Having to restore prior to update. How in the world can Netgear release an update that is obviously faulty? Looks like we'll have to wait for an update to the update. Solutions welcomed in the meantime . . .
- NailNailAspirantSame problem!!! MUST be solved asap!
- BMachAspirantSame here - urgently looking for a solution.
- katmanAspirantSame here, mate. I'd bet the fastest way to get this resolved is by having as many people as possible post. Bought many Netgear products over the years and still can't understand how this update wasn't more thoroughly tested. An update that won't function is one thing; quite another when it quite literally blocks your Internet access . . .
- pmignaultAspirantThere must be many non tech savvy people who lost their favorite hobby
