Adding disk to volume on RN214
My RN214 currently has two 4TB disks inside, arranged as a single X-RAID volume (RAID 1). I've added a third 4TB disk and was expecting the volume to expand automatically onto the new disk. Apart from the disk showing up, nothing happened following the insertion of the disk. I also tried formatting the new disk but again, nothing. What do I need to do to get the existing volume to expand onto the new disk? Am I right in thinking that this is possible?
Thanks

If it's on X-RAID it should auto Expand and change to RAID5. Are you seeing the Expand button on the Volume info?
If it has the expand button enabled, it probably might have changed to Flex-RAID but it should not happen without intervention as well. Have you tried inserting the drive on another bay? Are you getting any message or error?

Hi Marc,
I don't see an Expand button on the volume screen (see attached screenshot). When I added the third disk I got the following message:
"Disk: Disk Model:ST4000VN008 Serial:ZGY6MAM2 was added to Channel 3 of the head unit.". I've had no error messages...
I have only inserted the disk once so far...
Thanks

What happens if you select the disk on the volume tab, and the click on format in the right pane?
If the disk is formatted outside the NAS, it won't be automatically added to the array.
