BackupExec 2010 R3 Not Seeing Readynas 2100
I've just recently installed a ReadyNas 1500 and then today a ReadyNas 2100 and both are having the same issue, in that Backup Exec 2010 R3 does not see either appliance. Both devices are running the latest version of firmware and have the latest remote agent installed, in addition the RALUS agent on my media server is new also. In looking at the logs on both the 1500 and 2100 they both indicate that the beremote agent started correctly, but I still cannot see either unit in the selection list itself. I spent and hour with Netgear TS today and the engineer tried to be helpful but let me he ran out of ideas. FYI all devices are on the same subnet and the media server has all firewall settings disabled. I am at a loss for what to try next, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

- rfplantAspirantSo all of the Netgear documentation is incorrect. If you want to backup a Netgear ReadyNas 1500 or 2100 to tape, which I have tested with Backup Exec 2010 R3 you need to do the following.
1. Purchase and install the Symantec RALUS agent for your media server.
2. Download the latest remote agent from readynas.com/forum, select readynas for business then Symantec Backup Exec.
3. Install the agent on the NAS appliance and once installed enter the IP ADDRESS of your BackupExec media server.
4. Once the agent is installed go to BackupExec and either create a new job or edit an existing selection list. Right Click on USER DEFINED SELECTIONS
5. Select Manage User Defined Selections
6. Enter the IP address of the NAS and hit add then close
7 Select the IP address for the new selection, and enter the necessary credentials for accessing the NAS.
Once that is done you will then have access to the NAS file system and then can select the folders you wish to backup. - bwelmersAspirantThank you for posting this.
I wish I had read it before I took 6 hours to figure it out.
I also found that if you go to the new backup job
expand domains
expand Microsoft Windows Network and find your ReadyNAS device
select the check box next to it and say yes you trust the device.
the whole reason this is happening is that trust certificates is a new requirement/feature for backup exec 13.0.5204
Now hopefully Netgear will update their documentation some time soon.
