Can I read DISC coming from old RND 2110?
I have sold the old RND 2110, I kept the harddrive and I have a few files on it that I would like to copy to my PC. There were only 1 drive in it, a 1 TB drive that is OK!
Is it possible to read the files?
I now have a new RND 10211D NAS now with a new (another) 1 drive in it only - like the old NAS it is a 1 TB drive. When I put in the old drive in it as a second drive, it is not recognized as readable, the only option is "destroy" to make it usable.

- CartMan9000AspirantI checked the compatibility list, I find NO Hitatchi models in it, can this be correct??
- vandermerweMasterThe compatibility list is unfortunately as it is.
If you click on the disk that is not blue do you get the option to destroy the data ?
Did you add it with the nas on?
If not, try attaching that disk to a PC and deleting any partitions on it, before inserting it into the nas with the nas on.
On the volume tab in the admin pages, is Xraid on with a green line under it? - CartMan9000Aspirant

Yes I destroyed the data on the old disk, I tried to add the disk with the NAS both ON and in OFF state.
Eventually the second disc was reported as "ONLINE", but the NAS did not build RAID. The Xraid had the green line below, but below the NAS img. there was (JBOD), and the second disk was greyed, although it eventually also got the green light.
I did some reading in the Netgear pages, and I found that disks that had been operating under "RAIDiator" have to be reformatted before operating under READYNAS OS 6

Therefore I booted the 102 into "factory default:

as for the moment, I am only waiting....:-) I left the old disk ONLY inside to be reformatted. At the moment there is blue light in the POWER indicator and the LED2 ( the disk is placed in the 2.nd bay)
I wonder WHEN the process is finished, the articles did not say anything about what will indicate when it is finished...any idea??
At first all lights were flashing for a while and after that I could hear a little disk working, now it's at least 25 minutes since initiating the process...... - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat do you see in the Info (far right) column in RAIDar?
- vandermerweMasterHad you put any data on the disk in the 102 ( I mean the disk that was reported as a volume and that you have now removed)? If there was no data on it, you should have factory defaulted with both disks in. This would then wipe both disk and setup a raid volume.
Does the GUI now show the disk as a volume? - CartMan9000Aspirant

6.1.9.....
The reformatting finished, the disk is reported with "0" data used and "0" data free, it is greyed but has the green light... - CartMan9000Aspirant

The extra old disk HAD data but I "DESTROYED" it, there were two volumes in the GUI - but after that nothing happened, thereafter I ran the boot default settings, now the entire volume is visible in the GUI - vandermerweMaster

I thought you only had one disk in slot 2 now, or did I misunderstand your post? - CartMan9000Aspirant

I had, now I have both, the original 102 Toshiba disk in slot 1 and the other Hitatchi in slot 2....it's just not initiating RAID - vandermerweMasterWhen you said the entire volume is visible in the GUI, what do you mean by this if you say the raid is not intiating.
Do you now have 2 volumes or 1?
If there is 1 volume, are both disks in it and is RAID 1 displayed on the volume tab?
If not, could you post a screen shot of the volume tab?
