Copy / Backup between NAS
Hi.
I actually own a ReadyNAS Duo with 2 X 2 tb in RAID1 (mirror).
My brother have justa bought a D-Link DNS-320L with 2 x 1.5 Tb in RAID1 and he want to get some of my files / folders (about 750 Gb).
I thought to use my Raspberry Pi and copy (rsync / cp) folders between NAS after mounting them.
But maybe that using a Rasp for copying is not a good idea because of it's 10/100 network interface.
I saw that I can create backup jobs on ReadyNAS but my NAS will be able to write on DNS-320L ? Can I exclude somes files or folders ?
Or can I make direct rcp between ReadyNAS and DNS-320L ? or FTP batch ?
Second point, as my ReadyNAS is almost full (98%) and I can't put bigger disks, I bought a ReadyNAS 102 with 2 X 3 Tb in RAID1.
What is the best way to copy all data from Duo to 102 ? Full backup ?
If I plug one disk from the Duo into the RN102 and put a 3 Tb disk in other slot, does RN102 will recreate RAID from 1.5 Tb to 3 Tb ? Then I replace 1.5 Tb disk with other 3 Tb and RN102 recreate one more time RAID and now my RN102 get a fully 2 x 3 Tb RAID1 with data copied from Duo ?

- 1. If the DLink supports Rsync and has that enabled for the destination share you could run a backup job using Rsync on the ReadyNAS. If not you may need to try e.g. the Windows/NAS (Timestamp) backup option
2. The RAID format in the 102 is different so you should put new disks in the 102 and copy your data across your network. I would suggest enabling Rsync for your shares on the Duo and running backup jobs on the 102, with the Remote Rsync Server (Duo) as the source and the share you want to backup to on the 102 as the destination - Thanks.
