Data is not accessible after pluging the 4th HD and upgrading to fw 6.6.0 due to "mv_xor_status+88"

I bought the 4th hard drive today WD Red 4TB. I got another 3 HD plugged already WD Green 4TB. I'm using X-Raid and it was setup as Raid5. After 6% of the re-syncing process NAS Admin was not accessible anymore and I looked into the LCD Display and an error was displayed "mv_xor_status+88". I searched online why and I found a discussion on this forum stating that there was a bug related to this and it is fixed in the version 6.5.2. What I did I updated the firmware to 6.6.0 (I was on 6.5.0) since it was the latest update available. Once the update was completed after 10mins the admin was accessible again but all the HD are now marked red and I have an error message stating "Remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #1,2,3,4.". As I am writing this post here on this forum if I access the volmes tab, in the dialog box I have a message "Resyncing in progress: 9.55%" complete. The problem is that the data is not accessible and the shares are not available. Can you please help me if this is normal or I should do something about it now? Or should I wait for the resyncing to be completed and the shares will be available again?

Please let me know.

  • Hi Guys!

Resyncing is complete and now the array has expanded properly :) It was one hell of a week!

Thanks StephenB and mdgm-ntgr for your help.

    Happy Festive Season!

    Best Regards

    David

I sent the logs by email as instructed. Hopefully to get your insight sooner or later. It is still synching as we speak.

There are problems mounting your volume. I can see that your volume is extremely full.

Perhaps you could try booting into volume read-only mode (a boot menu option).

        Do you have a backup?

  • I don't have a back up. How come problems mounting your volume caused of plugging new HD? I will try to boot read only after syncing is complete, is there anything else to recover data if this willnot work?
