Egnyte Local Cloud share (ELC) inaccessible

Up until a few days ago despite some weird permission issues the Egnyte ELC partition on the ReadyNAS Pro 6 was accessible.
Now however the share is inaccessible despite the fact that other mapped shares on the same drive are functioning normally.
I've tried rebooting the NAS and deactivating and reactivating the Local Cloud service to no avail. Any idea why this would be happening?
The cloud syncing is still function normally by the way.

The NAS is:

ReadyNAS Pro
RAIDiator ver 4.2.19

  • Hi gndobson, have you tried submitting a troubleshoot ticket here?
If you have, and the issue still isn't resolved, please let me know your ticket # and domain name. I can escalate your problem straight to engineering if needed.
Keep me updated and I'll try to help as best as I can.

  • It sounds like you have the exact same config as us and most likely it's because you're running firmware 4.2.19. It's not officially supported yet, the latest version officially supported is 4.2.17.

We've had multiple tickets open with Egnyte and Netgear regarding weird file locking and "opened by another user" errors over the course of the last few months. We're testing the Vmware appliance route, and if that doesn't work we're moving away completely from this configuration. It's been nothing but headaches for our customer unfortunately... and more than likely it's a Netgear issue and NOT an egnyte issue .. the vmware appliance instance route should prove that out because it will pull netgear out of the picture completely. So far it's working.
  • You guys sound like you have already tried everything for your respective issues, but here's my two cents:

    gndobson:
On the ReadyNAS, within the Manage Local Cloud applet, did you try the option under "User Mappings" to "Reset All User Permissions"? It is a scary command, but it once solved an ELC access problem for me.

On the ReadyNAS, I suspect you already tried disabling Opportunistic Locking on the problematic shares? No help?
  • Thanks for offering your input guys, we really appreciate the help.
Our engineers worked with gndobson to get the issue resolved. It turned out to be a Windows server map drive issue with the ReadyNAS. In some instances of Windows server, old user information would get cached on the system and wouldn't allow new users to map a drive with their new credentials, so the old user information somehow kept showing up. To solve and test this issue, we mapped from a different machine and new users were able to access the OLC share just fine.
