eth0 Network Interface broken after Software Upgrade to 6.9.3

Hi,

after updating my RN202 to Version 6.9.3, the network interface eth0 seems to be broken, it does not pick up a link (no led) and is greyed out in the admin interface.

eth1 still works as expected. I tried shutting down / rebooting several times.

    Hi pizzaboy_75,

    Welcome to the Community!

    It may be best if you contact support so they can do a hardware check if it is the NIC that stopped working.

      Yes but I highly doubt this is a hardware failure since it happened directly after upgrading the firmware.

        Thank you for the information, we'll look into this soon.

  • Have some problems with not working nic on R214 after update to 6.9.3.

    Try solve problem:

    - restart nas;

    - plug&unplag cable;

    - chage switch port, connect direct to PC;

    - downgrade firmware to 6.9.2;

    - reset to factory default.

    Nothing help.

      My log seems similar:

      [Wed Mar 14 18:47:15 2018] al_eth 0000:00:01.0 eth0: al_eth_down

      Already tried reinstalling the update manually and a OS-Reinstall from Boot Menu. eth0 seems dead.

        Can you provide the complete system logs of the NAS? You may upload it to a file sharing site and then PM me the download link.

      Hi,

      I have this mistake!
      Did you manage to solve it?
      Thanks for the answer!
  • I have the same Issues after Updating to 9.6.3, System worked fine with 6.9.2 before

    NAS Shows "No IP Address" and there is NO active Link shown at any Ethernet Port.

    So i have all the Ethernet Ports without funktion?

    - bootet several times

    - switched ethernet ports

    - tried different switches

    - connected directly to pc

    - reinstalled OS

    Nothing worked so far.

    Opened a Support Case 30060766

    It wasn't the first time this happened to me during an update! Last time i had to reset to factory default ...

    I hope there is another way to solve this problem.

    HI pizzaboy_75 Hardy_S Mete0 mdirvin KaCSa

    Issues with the RN200/RN210 series with NICs not working was due to the NICs getting hot disabling the port.

    Engineers are still debugging for a software resolution if possible. The current workaround would be to turn off the NAS for a few minutes so as to cool down the NICs and boot the NAS back and it should work back to normal operation.

    If anyone are still having issues with the RN200/RN210 NICs please update us if this helped resolved the issue.

    Regards

      Ok, this worked for
      me. I had my device down for a few days after nothing really resolved the problem.
      Turning it back on it had an IP from DHCP
      I hope the devs can fix it with a software update

        In May update to 6.9.3 - No Ethernet ports - No LED's.  Eventually after much alternate trials I gave up and turned the power off.  Next day I went to try the USB recovery, but the unit booted normally!!!

        Now its 6.9.4 and the same has happened - No IP No lights on ports - Just have to figure out how many hours!!

        The question is, Is this an individual 214 or a design fault? - I am still in warranty and is it worth replacing?  My 104 is working OK and has survived both updates (3 years old).
